What is the difference between Sculptra and Radiesse?

I explain it this way: Sculptra is more like fertilizer, Radiesse is more like sod. Both are collagen biostimulators, but Sculptra works gradually by encouraging your own collagen to grow, while Radiesse gives more immediate contour and support and keeps stimulating tissue underneath as it goes.

Sculptra is made with PLLA. Think of it as fertilizing the soil — your body gradually grows more of its own collagen, so the change builds over time rather than giving you an immediate filled appearance.

Radiesse is a calcium hydroxylapatite biostimulator that also stimulates collagen, elastin and the other components that support healthy skin. Used for structural support it can provide more immediate contour while continuing to stimulate your own tissue. That is why I compare it to laying sod: you see more of the improvement right away, and the skin keeps improving underneath.

Neither one is better. They are different tools and I use them for different goals — Sculptra when I want gradual, global collagen restoration, Radiesse when we want skin regeneration along with more targeted structure, contour or definition.

Which one I recommend depends on your facial anatomy, skin quality, degree of volume loss, age, and where the treatment sits in your overall plan. The goal is always the same: natural, gradual improvement that leaves you looking refreshed rather than treated.
