What are smooth threads?
Smooth threads are absorbable PDO threads placed beneath the skin to stimulate collagen and build a supportive scaffold over time. Unlike lifting threads they are not designed to pull or reposition tissue — their purpose is to improve skin quality, firmness and structural support in the face and neck.
They can also be used strategically to help soften etched-in lines such as the glabella, the "11s", especially alongside a neurotoxin for a more comprehensive result.
I also love using smooth threads around the lips, particularly in patients who have had previous filler migration. Placed along the vermilion border they reinforce and strengthen that area, creating support before any future lip filler.
They combine well with neurotoxins, Juvéderm and Restylane products, biostimulators, skin boosters and other regenerative injectables. I often build them into a facial rejuvenation plan because they improve the quality and support of the tissue itself, which is what takes an injectable plan to the next level.
The results are gradual and natural, and they keep improving as your body builds new collagen around the threads.
